Hella Pagid To Present Brake Innovations At The Automechanika Trade Show

The Essen-based brake specialist Hella Pagid will be exhibiting new products and additions to its portfolio at Automechanika, the leading international trade fair for the automobile industry which takes place in Frankfurt am Main from September 13 through 17, 2016. The highlights at the stand (hall 3.0, stand D91), where the brake specialist is represented together with sales partner HELLA, include two-piece composite brake discs and Carbonic Black Edition brake discs.

In line with Automechanika 2016, Hella Pagid is launching two-piece composite brake discs specifically for BMW models. Each consists of a brake disc chamber and a friction ring, which are connected to each other by rivets. The weight can be reduced by 15 to 20 percent by using aluminum for brake disc chambers. The composite disc of a BMW E60, for example, only weighs 10 kilograms - 1.5 kilograms less than the discs on the full-steel version. This reduces what is known as the brake system's unsprung mass and improves the driving comfort and roadholding. The lighter composite brake disc also contributes to reducing emissions.

The Carbonic Black Edition, the high-carbon brake discs with environmentally friendly, black paint now complete the Hella Pagid product portfolio. Along with visual accents, particularly on the open rims, the high-carbon brake discs can take higher temperature loads and have optimal damping characteristics for reduced brake noise. Thanks to expedited heat dissipation, the discs provide continuously high braking performance with minimal fading - including in extreme situations or when driving fast. The risk of the material deforming is also greatly minimized due to the improved heat dissipation characteristics. The result is less brake shudder and disc runout as well as more gradual and progressive braking.

As one of the first suppliers on the market, Hella Pagid presented ECE-approved brake discs at Automechanika 2014. The Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) defined a series of regulations for protecting consumers from dangerous counterfeit products. The ECE R90 regulation has also applied throughout Europe since the end of 1999. According to this regulation, brake pads for road traffic must pass a series of tests for braking performance and coefficients of friction before they can receive the corresponding certificate. Starting November 2016, this regulation also applies for brake drums and discs. Hella Pagid addresses this topic once more, informing trade show visitors about the new ECE regulation and showing how it can be ensured that all replacement parts meet the same performance parameters as original equipment products.

In addition to wearing parts, products from the brake hydraulics range are also included in the Hella Pagid product range. Here, remanufactured brake calipers are increasingly in demand by customers. With our service for remanufacturing used parts for depreciated vehicles, Hella Pagid offers both garages and drivers a cost-effective alternative, especially when considering that the professional remanufacturing program meets the highest requirements when it comes to quality and safety. The Essen-based company illustrates this using a sample model that depicts the phases of remanufacturing a brake caliper step-by-step.

As a one-stop shop with OEM competency, the brake specialist offers a strong product range of over 10,000 items, including wearing parts, brake hydraulics, clutch hydraulics, liquids and accessories. As part of one of Europe's largest aftermarket organizations, Hella Pagid combines outstanding logistics, first-class technical service and professional sales support.
