ContiWinterContact TS 850 Crowned Test Winner in First Winter Tire Test of the Year

Continental winter tire for compact to upper medium-sized vehicles finishes first in the test performed by specialist magazine ACE Lenkrad

In the first winter tire test of the year, the ContiWinterContact TS 850 clearly set itself apart from its competitors. In the test performed by specialist magazine ACE Lenkrad, it finished first among a range of new winter tire models in the size category 185/60 R 15. Overall, the experts investigated 14 different driving and handling properties on snow and on wet and dry road surfaces, and the rolling resistance was also factored into the final score. The ContiWinterContact TS 850 beat all its rivals in braking on snowy and wet road surfaces and in terms of traction on snow, and it was also awarded the highest score in the test for handling on snow and in the wet, as well as for its rolling resistance. The test was performed as a collaborative effort between ACE Lenkrad magazine (Germany), the Austrian automobile club ARBÖ, and the Gesellschaft für technische Überwachung (GTÜ, German technical inspection body).

The magazine tested the winter tires in Finnish Lapland and on the test track of a tire manufacturer in France. In the process, the experts looked at winter tires manufactured in Europe and the U.S.A. The test vehicle was a VW Polo. The tire size 185/60 R 15 is suitable for a large number of other vehicles in the compact vehicle segment, while the ContiWinterContact TS 850 is also available in a wide range of sizes from 14 to 17 inches for vehicles up to the upper medium-sized class.
