Toyota oil filter cap

Toyota oil filter cap

Certain Toyota engines are equipped with a plastic oil filter cap assembly which can be damaged if the proper procedure is not followed.

This applies to 2007-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia vehicles equipped with the 1UR-FE or 3UR-FE engine, 2009-2010 Corolla and Matrix with the 2ZR-FE, 2009 Highlander and Venza with the 1AR-FE and 20010 Camry and RAV4 with the 2AR-FE engine.

Toyota recommends using oil filter wrench P/N 09228-06500-02 or 09228-06501.

Confirm that the SST is fully seated on the oil filter cap when removing/installing. When installing, torque the cap to 18 +/- 3.7 ft.-lbf. The oil filter cap may be difficult to remove if the specified torque is exceeded.
