The Light’s On, But Nobody’s Home
Owners of 2010 BMW 750I vehicles may complain about backlighting in the instrument cluster staying on after the ignition is turned off. This applies to vehicle equipped with the optional 6WB (dynamic digital instrument cluster). No fault code is stored.
The cause is a software error. Do not replace parts for this issue.
- Perform a vehicle test using the latest ISTA diagnostic software. Complete all test modules related to the instrument cluster.
- Reprogram using ISTA/P 2.51.2 or later (new integration level F001-13-11-503 or higher).
- Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger prior to reprogramming. Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
