Toyo introduces a SmartWay-verified drive tire

Toyo Tire Corp. has added a new SmartWay-verified drive tire to its commercial line-up. The Toyo M650 (pictured) is designed for regional haul service and higher-torque operating conditions.

The tire's unique design and construction not only provide excellent traction and even wear, but also meet United States Environmental Protection Agency standards for low rolling resistance. It was developed using the company’s proprietary E-balance technology, which optimizes design to offer extended casing life, exceptional durability, and reduced fuel consumption.

"The new M650 combines drive traction with low rolling resistance for regional haul trucks,” says Lowell Slimp, senior product manager, commercial truck tires.

The tread design and construction characteristics include the following:

  • The rib/lug pattern has a deep 28/32-inch tread depth for optimum performance in both wet and dry conditions.

  • Tie bars on the shoulder bridge help reduce tread block movement.

  • Four steel-belt construction braces the tread area for improved mileage, while providing resistance to irregular wear and contributing to the reduced rolling resistance.

Operators also will appreciate the extended casing life and retreadability of the M650, thanks to an advanced casing design and unique compounding. This new SmartWay verified drive radial will fit 22.5-inch wheels.

In addition to the new M650 premium drive radial for regional haul service, Toyo Tires offers the following SmartWay verified products: the M144 regional steer tire; the M177 steer tire for regional to long haul; the M137 steer tire for long haul; the M657 drive tire for regional to long haul; and the M157 trailer position free-rolling tire.
