ZF Equips 172 City Buses in Hungary

ZF's advanced driveline and chassis technology and steering systems made by ZF Lenksysteme GmbH are still in great demand among Hungarian urban public transport authorities: In a total of 172 new vehicles for the cities of Budapest and Pécs, the technology company's commercial vehicle components will contribute to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and increasing cost-effectiveness and comfort for driver and passengers. At the center of attention is the fuel-saving, low-noise ZF-EcoLife automatic transmission.

ZF Services Introduces New Brand: ZF Lenksysteme

ZF Services, the international aftersales specialist of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, and ZF Lenksysteme GmbH – a 50/50 joint venture between ZF and Robert Bosch GmbH – are restructuring their collaborative efforts. As of 2014, ZF Services will assume the responsibility for the international IAM business for steering gears, steering pumps and steering columns. ZF Lenksysteme GmbH will focus on its core competencies of production and remanufacturing. Starting in 2014, the complete product portfolio will be sold by ZF Services under the new ZF Lenksysteme brand.

"EMiLE" Project: Electric Drives Reinvented

Market opportunities for electric vehicles will be enhanced if they become more powerful, more reliable, and less expensive. "EMiLE", the research project headed by ZF and supported with around EUR 10 million by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is examining how this could work. The aim is to integrate an electric vehicle's power electronics directly into the driving machine. Efficiency and power-to-weight ratio increase as a consequence, faults are easier to identify, and volume production can be realized at significantly lower cost.
