ZF has today announced that it has acquired a 40% stake in Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH. The Hamburg-based company, which was founded in 2009, is a market leader in lidar technology and in developing environmental recognition software with a particular focus on applications for autonomous driving. Ibeo's customers include several major global vehicle manufacturers.

Leading aftermarket parts suppliers ZF and TRW are to combine their aftermarket divisions. It means that ZF Services and TRW Aftermarket will be completely integrated by 2017. The operations will merge on January 1st , creating what ZF claims will be the world’s second-largest service organisation in the automotive supplier segment.

ZF TRW, the active and passive safety division of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, has today announced that it will start production of its innovative heated steering wheel technology (Conductor Insert Heating System, or CIHS) with a major European vehicle manufacturer in 2017. The design can be combined with ‘Hands On Detection’ (HOD) to enhance safety and comfort, and support the development of automated driving.
