Penray Introduces Crankcase and Differential Cleaner

Penray Inc.’s new 7612 Crankcase and Differential Cleaner is designed to dissolve sludge and other deposits, and actually collect moisture so that these contaminants can be safely drained out of crankcases and differentials before they can cause damage.
The company says 7612 Crankcase and Differential Cleaner is suitable for use in the crankcases of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as in differentials. The new blend includes a combination of solvents that dislodge crankcase and differential deposits so they can be removed by simply draining the oil. In the process, it also removes harmful deposits from valve train components, pistons, and piston rings, where such deposits could otherwise compromise engine performance and longevity.
Penray says the new cleaner also includes a glycol ether compound that collects moisture that can accumulate throughout the crankcase or differential, which is safely flushed away when the oil is drained. Left untreated, moisture can compromise the lubricity of the oil, and can also lead to rust and corrosion on vital internal engine or differential components, according to the company.
The new cleansing product is compatible with all gasoline and diesel engines and rear wheel or 4-wheel drive differentials in passenger cars, light trucks, vans, and SUVs. Also, it is compatible with all conventional and synthetic oils and lubricants, as well as gaskets, seals, and bearings.
For crankcase cleaning, add 7612 Crankcase and Differential Cleaner to old engine oil, allow the engine to idle for five minutes to allow the product to work, then simply drain the oil and add fresh oil and a new filter.
When cleaning differentials, drain or suction about 12 fluid ounces of lubricant from the differential, add Penray's Crankcase and Differential Cleaner, and roll the vehicle forward and backward 20 to 30 feet to distribute the product throughout the inner workings of the differential. Then drain and refill with the appropriate lubricant such as Penray's Synthetic Gear Oils #3532 and 3632.
Penray says the 7612 cleaner is especially effective for vehicles which have been subjected to high waters, not enough to ruin engines and vehicle interiors, but high enough to cause unseen damage.
In particular, the differentials of rear wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles are subject to drawing in water through vent holes that can quickly cause premature failure of gears, bearings, and seals.
In order to accommodate the ever-changing air pressures within differential housings, they typically have a mushroom-shaped breather vent located on top of the axle housing. This allows the axle assembly to "breathe," allowing air to flow in and out as internal pressures change.
But when water is mid-wheel deep, or when driving through flooded areas, water can enter the axle housing through this vent. And when water enters the differential area, it can quickly compromise the lubricating qualities of the gear oil, which is especially critical given the very high loads experienced by the meshing gears. The result can be costly gear damage, as well as the onset of rust, which can quickly degrade the lifespan of gears, bearings, and seals.
Penray says use of its new 7612 Crankcase and Differential Cleaner, which is specially compounded to remove moisture and other contaminants from differentials and engine crankcases, will cleanse the entire differential mechanism.
