Taking quality to another level: Most MEYLE water pumps now feature silicon carbide-based mechanical seals

Newly developed mechanical seal material to extend service life

MEYLE has launched a quality campaign to demonstrate that water pumps can be designed to last longer. To achieve this, the Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG's team of in-house engineers has scrutinised defective parts to pinpoint the root cause of premature water pump failure. Based on these findings, MEYLE water pumps have been re-designed to feature mechanical seals based on silicon carbide, a material distinguished by its extraordinary hardness compared to conventional standards, thereby delivering superior durability and increased service life while minimising friction.
