Nokian expands winter tire line in Europe

Nokian Tyres plc is adding five tires to its product selection for Central Europe's winter weather.

The Nokian WR D4 passenger car tire, the Nokian WR C3 for versatile use on vans, and the Nokian Weatherproof product family for the all-weather concept, will improve the competitive strength of the company, especially in Central Europe.

Nokian will introduce the new Central European products in the coming weeks and detailed product information will be available Wednesday, Feb. 25, the company says. The new products will be available to consumers in the fall of 2015.

Central Europe is the world's largest market area for winter tires. Approximately 70 million winter tires were sold in 2014 and the winter tire segment is growing faster than the overall market, the company says. As the tire markets expand and winter tire legislation becomes more common, Central Europe has become one of Nokian's most important areas for growth, the company says.

The Nokian WR D4 is a premium passenger car winter tire that offers top-notch wet grip and the best A and B class in the EU tyre label standard. This winter tire represents an entirely new generation that follows the Nokian WR D3, the winner of multiple comparison tests in motoring media.

With the introduction of the Nokian Weatherproof product family, Nokian is introducing its All-Weather concept to the wider European market. The core of the concept is to offer a functional, all-year solution for drivers who want to avoid the seasonal tyre changes but still want the best possible safety for snowy, slushy and rainy roads on every day of the year. The extensive and modern size selection of the Nokian Weatherproof is suited for passenger cars, SUVs and vans.
