Three Hankook tires win design awards
Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. has won 2015 iF Design awards for its all-season Ventus S1 noble2 and Ventus V2 Concept2 ultra high performance tires and its all-season Smart Flex AH31 truck and bus radial tire.
The company says the Ventus S1 noble2 and Ventus V2 Concept2 were highly acclaimed for its geometric tread pattern designs that enable the highest driving performance.
Designed for premium sedans, Ventus S1 noble2 provides exceptional handling performance and driving comfort thanks to its sophisticated asymmetrical tread pattern applied. Ventus V2 Concept2 appeals to sports car drivers with optimal driving performance based on dynamic and technical tread designs, according to Hankook.
Smart Flex AH31, an all-season TBR tire well-suited for variable road conditions, was also recognized for its technology and design newly adopted to provide even wear and high mileage performance with very low rolling resistance.
Hankook says the product design of tires, unlike other industrial designs focusing on aesthetic features, carries extra significance as a factor that directly contributes to its driving performance as well as safety-related aspects. For example, core tire safety performance such as water channeling and aquaplaning resistance are predominantly determined by tread pattern designs and structure.
Established in 1953, the annual iF Design Award assesses entries based on various evaluation criteria including design quality, functionality, safety, visualization of intended use & intuitiveness and environmental impact, according to Hankook.
Last year, Hankook received international recognitions for technological leadership and design capability from the iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) and Good Design Award.
