Korea introduces tougher tyre noise standards

The Korean Ministry of Environment has announced that domestic and overseas tyre manufacturers will be obliged to indicate the noise level of their products from 2019. The policy announced in Korea on Monday follows the E.U. standards as well, the ministry said, and will be applied to tiyes on passenger vehicles starting in 2019, and for all tyres by 2028.

Just a Test Noise

This bulletin applies to 2011 Mazda 2 vehicles. Some customers may complain about a slight clunk, bang or jolt from the front of the vehicle after starting the engine and as the vehicle first begins to move forward.

Rusty Bearing Hum

Some 2009-2013 Mazda6 vehicles may exhibit an unusual humming noise from the front wheel bearings. This may be caused by muddy water entering the wheel bearing(s), causing the bearing(s) to rust. A new bearing seal design has been improved to eliminate this concern.

Rattling Pony and F-150

Some 2011 Ford F-150 and 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles (excluding Boss) built on or before 3-31-2011 and equipped with the 5.0L engine may exhibit an intermittent metallic rattle or scratching type noise in the area at the front of the left hand cylinder at idle with the engine at operating temperature. This noise is not a typical upper engine tick or tapping noise.
