Honda oil with MIL

Honda oil with MIL

This TSB applies to 2008-2010 Honda Accord V6, 2011 Accord V6 A/T, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2008-2011 Odyssey and 2009-2011 Pilot vehicles. The engine oil level may be low and the MIL on with DTC P3400 and/or P3497 (VPS stuck oil bank 1 / oil bank 2).

The VCM (variable cylinder management) function may repeatedly switch on and off during certain light throttle operation, at cruising speeds on flat roads. This rapid switching leads to excessive cylinder operation with negative pressures. This may prevent the oil control rings from properly cleaning the oil from the cylinder walls, resulting in excessive combustion chamber deposits and possibly increased oil consumption. The updated PCM software optimizes VCM operation which should improve drivability, reduce harmful deposits within the combustion chamber and potentially reduce oil consumption.

Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS, using version 2.024.011 or later.

The updated PGM-FI software program IDs and P/Ns are listed below. If the HDS or MVCI is loaded with the latest software, and it displays “No update needed” during the update, the software for this service bulletin is already installed:
