Ford Focus bad vibe

Ford Focus bad vibe

Some 2000-2011 Ford Focus vehicles may exhibit excessive engine vibration at idle, most noticeable when the transmission is placed in reverse gear. The condition may be caused by road junk (small stones, ice or snow, etc.) lodged in the rear engine roll restrictor.

Ford has developed a shield to avoid this concern.

1. Inspect the ear engine roll restrictor for debris.

2. Remove any debris.

3. Remove the cross member-to-roll restrictor attachment bolt.

4. Install the new service shield.

5. Install the attachment bolt and tighten to 35 ft.-lbs. on 2000-2007 models; or 52 ft.-lbs. on 2008-2011 models.

The service shield is available as P/N 2M5Z-16102-AB.

Clean out the junk and install the service shield. They should have thought of this in the first place.
