Harman invests in projection-display startup

Harman International Industries Inc. invested in a startup that makes projection displays that sit in front of car windshields, signaling a new area it plans to explore under the ownership of Samsung Electronics Co.The investment in Navdy Inc. is Harman’s first since agreeing to sell itself to Samsung for 8 billion dlrs last month. Harman will work with the startup to sell co-branded devices next year, said Doug Simpson, Navdy’s chief executive officer.

Valeo’s autonomous vehicle completes 24 hours on the Paris Beltway in a world first

Valeo's Cruise4U autonomous vehicle has completed 24 hours on the Paris beltway. The car logged a total of 766km, the equivalent of driving around Paris more than 20 times, and nearly 99% of the distance and time was completed in autonomous mode, not counting breaks and changeovers.

ZF and Ibeo to Develop New Lidar Technology

ZF has today announced that it has acquired a 40% stake in Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH. The Hamburg-based company, which was founded in 2009, is a market leader in lidar technology and in developing environmental recognition software with a particular focus on applications for autonomous driving. Ibeo's customers include several major global vehicle manufacturers.
