Nokian Tyres utilising “unique stud technology” on latest winter range

The next generation of Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded winter tyres will come to market in time for winter 2017-18. Nokian writes that these new flagship products, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 car tyre and Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV ranges, feature new stud technology.

This new technology, shares Juha Pirhonen, Nokian Tyres’ vice-president of research and development, functions as follows: “Different studs in different parts of the tyre operate as active safety equipment and adapt to all winter weather.” Pirhonen adds that “this patented functional studding solution is unique within the tyre industry, and it offers the driver both excellent longitudinal grip and unparalleled lateral grip when cornering under winter conditions as well as stable, comfortable bare-road handling.”

“Nokian Hakkapeliitta is the leading winter tyre brand in the Nordic Countries and Russia. The new, high-quality Hakkapeliitta studded tyres utilise the latest technology in the field and will strongly support our clients’ sales during the coming winter seasons,” comments Andrei Pantioukhov, who was appointed Nokian Tyres’ interim president and chief executive officer on 1 January. “We are looking forward to providing consumers an opportunity to experience the finely tuned safety and handling characteristics of our novelty products.”

In addition to the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9, the Finnish tyre maker is also introducing new Nordman studded winter tyres, the Nordman 7 and Nordman 7 SUV. Nokian Tyres comments that the “Nokian Nordman product family offers an alternative to the premium products in terms of the price to quality ratio, and supplements Nokian Tyres’ product range for different consumer groups.” Key markets for both product families are the Nordic countries, Russia and North America.

The new products will start shipping to retailers this spring, with a “comprehensive size range” available to consumers in autumn 2017. Nokian Tyres adds that more detailed product information will be released later this month.
