A host of Philips debuts at Automechanika

A host of new Philips automotive products are making their debut on the Philips stand at Automechanika, Frankfurt, Germany this week.

This year’s Automechanika in Frankfurt marks the arrival of several new Philips automotive products demonstrating the continuing innovation for which the brand has long been renowned.

There are three new headlamp bulbs debuting at the show, including the launch of probably the strongest legal halogen lamp ever manufactured. RacingVision road-legal rally headlight bulbs provide up to 150 per cent brighter light, for better visibility and greater contrast thanks to their optimized high precision filament geometry and a specific color temperature of up to 3,500 Kelvin.

The show also sees the debut of the Philips Xenon X-tremeVision gen2 headlight bulb that puts safety first, with 150% more vision*, so that drivers see objects sooner and their peripheral vision is increased. These headlight bulbs benefit from precise arc-bending technology, aligned at 150-350µm, directing the light exactly where it is needed on the road ahead.

For drivers who want an intense white look for their headlights, the new Philips Xenon WhiteVision gen2 bulbs are the perfect choice. With a color temperature of up to 5,000 Kelvin, the same as LED daytime driving lights, the lights blend in perfectly with each other, giving cars a personalized and designer look. They provide 120 per cent more vision and produce uniform light on the road ahead without dazzling oncoming traffic.

The stand ids also showcasing Philips Certificate of Authenticity initiative, which is aimed at combatting the growth of counterfeit HID Xenon lights and which allows purchasers to instantly chek whether a Philips Xenon bulb is the genuine article through individual numbering allied to a special microsite – www.philips.com/original

Philips X-treme Vision LEDLED lamps are one of the latest creations from the leading lighting brand, designed and manufactured to meet a trend that has spread from original equipment manufacturer (OEM) technology to the automotive aftermarket. Philips LED lights will be showcased both on the main stand (Hall 4.0, D41) and in a separate feature stand through a specially-modified LED lighting concept Mini in the innovation hall (2.0 stand E58).

The range of Philips workshop lights has also expanded with the unveiling of two specialized color check lamps for bodyshops – the MatchLine PJH20 LED projector and the MDLS CRI LED lamp – both of which comprise light as white as natural daylight. Both color check lamps deliver 6,000K-color temperature. The color temperature is white like daylight, which means the risk of metamerism – when the color difference of the repaired part compared to the rest of the car is very visible under daylight – is avoided.

Philips automotive driving recorders – the ADR 610 and 810 – which were launched at the end of 2015, will also be on display. Both cameras produce crystal-clear footage – particularly sharp during night time – thanks to full HD 1080p resolution. Drivers can relax and fully concentrate on the road ahead, as both record automatically without a button being pushed. They also detect abrupt braking and potential collisions, with all incidents automatically saved into an emergency file, with a time and date stamp. This ensures vital evidence is preserved.

All of the new lighting products are included in a newly published catalogue, which covers all of the Philips automotive products and which features a number of major improvements to the look, feel and functionality over its predecessor.
