Alcoa unveils new finish

Alcoa Wheel Products, inventor and global leader in forged aluminium wheels has unveiled a new finish, LvL ONE®, used for the aluminium wheels on commercial transport vehicles.

LvL ONE® will be available in all standard Alcoa wheel sizes in the second quarter of 2016 and joins the “Brushed” and “Dura-Bright® EVO” finishes as one of three options Alcoa offers to commercial truck fleets.

Like all currently available Alcoa Wheel options, the new aluminium LvL ONE wheels will be manufactured in Alcoa’s state-of-the-art wheels plant in Hungary for the European market and will provide significant benefits to drivers and commercial fleets. For example, they are:

  • Attractive, with a smoother and glossier surface than brushed

  • Five times stronger than steel, resulting in less damage and repair downtime

  • Up to 47% lighter, resulting in increased payload capacity, cooler running temperatures as well as significant fuel and cost savings

“We invented the forged aluminium wheel nearly 70 years ago, and since then, Alcoa has been tireless in its efforts to improve and innovate.  Our wheels are tough, reliable and lower the cost of ownership for fleets – all while allowing them to deliver more payload. This, in turn, results in significant cost savings,” said Randall Scheps, Vice President and General Manager Alcoa Wheel Products Europe, Africa and Middle East. “The new LvL ONE finish is just one more example of this company continuing to deliver the performance and value customers have come to expect from Alcoa.  We think our customers will love it.”
