Brake Engineering is expanding production of its caliper remanufacturing line, following increased demand from customers in the automotive aftermarket embracing its “Original Aftermarket” approach to supplying a complete braking solution.
The company has led the market in the production of calipers since 1981. With the efficiencies installed at its Wrexham-based facility, it is able to meet this increasing demand and continue to offer calipers of exceptional quality and increased complexity, while still remaining competitively priced.
Kevin Price, Brake Engineering marketing manager, explains: “Original Aftermarket sets out Brake Engineering’s position as a full-line braking supplier in the independent aftermarket. It comes from a belief that in the automotive aftermarket, suppliers, motor factors and garages need to work together to grow their businesses and offer a credible alternative to vehicle servicing and repair.”
As part of the remanufacturing process, all wearing parts of a caliper are completely replaced with brand new components including pistons, seals, sliders and circles. In addition, the caliper housing is given a corrosion resistance zinc plated finish that falls in line with current EU legislation. The caliper is then pressure tested to strict quality guidelines with batch marking being used for essential traceability.
Each piston has an improved anti-corrosion coating and has undergone a 450-hour salt spray resistance test proving their suitability for use in cold climates and each piston has a hardness of 500vickers. The piston surface finish is also improved and therefore reduces wear on the seals.
Price added: “We’re an aftermarket company focused on the trade and on supporting motor factors and garages. When their business grows, so does ours. We can react quickly, make quick decisions and offer support when customers need it. Brake Engineering is focused solely on braking and passionate about ensuring the independent aftermarket always has access to a solution.”
