Shifting cylinders for trucks and buses

Shifting cylinders for trucks and buses

Guaranteed quality has made the brand DT Spare Parts the leading brand in the international Independent Aftermarket for commercial vehicles. The complete range includes all required spare parts for trucks, trailers and buses, including all standard shifting cylinders.

Shifting cylinders are pneumatic or hydraulic slave cylinders. They are employed in the gearbox shift mechanism and serve to transmit the shifting force.

In combination with pneumatic, hydraulic and electric or combined components, the shifting cylinder enables a fast and for the driver comfortable gear shifting operation.

Modern systems are equipped with an electropneumatic or hydrostatic control and can be additionally combined with a gearshift support system. The result is greater comfort and lower noise in the cab and, in addition, prevents faulty shifting.

When the driver shifts into the desired gear, mechanical power is transmitted via pneumatic or hydraulic valves or by electrical impulses via switches to the shifting cylinder. This causes the piston with the connected push rod to move in the shifting cylinder and the subsequent shifting components are mechanically actuated.

The materials of the sealing components are adapted to the specified pressure medium. For this reason, the function of the shifting cylinder can only be guaranteed if the specifications are followed.

The cylinder bores are honed. The resulting characteristics are a particularly high surface quality and a smooth running. In this way the wear on the piston seal components is minimized.

In order to guarantee a high quality, shifting cylinders of the brand DT Spare Parts are subjected to different tests. The most important of these are the tests for leaks and functionality at a humidity of up to 90% and temperatures from -42 °C to +85 °C, as well as tests of material properties and surface quality of the honed cylinder bores.
